Rome

Rome is like a huge crazy open air museum. Everything you look at, stand on or touch is so ancient, it takes you a few minutes just to stand there and comprehend how incredible it is to have most of it still standing after hundreds, if not a couple thousand years.

Rome, like Venice, has this special vibe to it that you either like or you don't. I came with an open mind having never been here before. Most have seen pictures of the Coliseum, the Spanish Steps and the Vatican (or watched Angels & Demons ten times no?) but I have to say everything bar the Pantheon had a totally different layout and scale to what my mind had made up from pictures and movies, but all in a good way.

Eating a thin base Margherita pizza in Piazza Navona to walking the Jewish ghetto, gazing up in awe in the Sistine Chapel to braving a few insane pedestrian crossings throughout the city, Rome has that special something that makes me want to come back; a vibrancy from its antiquity that you just don't find everyday.
