Pisa & the Cinque Terre

The Leaning (Bell) Tower of Pisa was a weird experience of school-project reality. I remember researching this thing in primary school thinking back then it didn't really exist because it looked so unreal, yet I learnt first hand it does.

It was odd to see with your mind going nuts trying to figure out how such a structure (and a pretty large one at that actually, postcards and picture books don't do it justice) can still stand 'upright' before the modern engineers came in and managed to stop (and arrest, for the benefit of the tourist trade) the unnatural lean.

The Cinque Terre was a place I was hanging out to see being the keen photo snapper I am but it seemed the marketing photos I saw in brochures were taken from way up on the hill sides, far too far to walk to in the short time I had. Managed to snap off a few shots before calling it a day as my toothache had come back to kick me down a notch. Looking through the crowds and the tooth pain, I thought these small villages would be the ideal place to chill in times before tourism.
