Lucerne

I don't remember much about Lucerne from when I was last here. A few photos of me in front of the Lion and on the Kappelbrucke exist but apart from that I have no recollection of the place, however the memory I will take away from this most recent visit will stay with me for years to come.

Lucerne had such a cool vibe to it. Sure there were heaps of tourists around, the streets were reasonably busy and restaurants most certainly packed but maybe it was the weather...maybe it was the whole Swiss vibe, but the place just felt good.

Again time was against me so managed to pack in all the main sights within 24 hours with a very special trip up to Chateau Gutsch on the last night for an late evening desert and coffee with some Swiss friends first met here in Lucerne 21 years ago. The Chateau, despite being a bit 'fake' as it is 'only 130 years old' is beautifully decorated throughout and has a commanding view over Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. Definitely the place to stay next time round.

Hitting the road again tomorrow to one of the places I've been looking forward to going back to the most, La Serenissima...Venice.
